Differ Like Syllables from Sound

The performance is situated within the stratified context of Rome, understood as an organism in constant transformation. The work explores the relationship between word, memory, and presence, engaging the city as a space in which language is formed, transformed, and layered over time. Using the body, voice, and a landscape of mustard seeds, Agrawal crosses the threshold between language and memory, between the celestial and the earthly, composing a score made of gestures, sounds, and presences. Vanshika Agrawal’s practice unfolds through a balance between knowing and not knowing. Through embodied practices, ritual, and repetition, she investigates themes of identity, memory, and cultural transmission. By merging poetry, performance, painting, drawing, and installation, the artist shapes ephemeral spaces that connect the body with its surroundings and with the collective histories that unfold over time.
